International trucking firm Penske is laying off 152 workers in Keller after losing a contract with supermarket chain Kroger. In a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission, the company said the layoffs were 'due to the loss of a competitive bid for a transportation contract with Kroger.' Kroger operates a distribution center warehouse at 5801 Kroger Dr. The company will transition to a new logistics provider effective May 20, when the layoffs occur. Randolph Ryerson, vice president of communications at Penske confirmed the company issued a WARN notice for the Tarrant County location, 'due to the recent loss of a competitive bid for trucking services.
